Biomodels specialty is cancer supportive care and immune/inflammatory disease. However, we are frequently asked to design custom models. In these cases, we listen to client needs and work collaboratively to take advantage of existing information prior to designing a study. We believe that maintaining open lines of communication and an honest dialogue about the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches is key to our success. The human relevance of the model is maintained by incorporating a clinical perspective at all stages of study design. In some instances, we may suggest first completing a smaller scale pilot study to identify and remove potential confounders and reduce overall costs. Custom models employed by our clients have been successfully used for a variety of purposes including the preliminary testing of compounds in emerging (or understudied) therapeutic areas, mechanism of action studies, and the identification of novel molecular biomarkers of disease.
