More people in the United States die from lung cancer than any other type of cancer. In 2010, more than 200,000 people in the United States were diagnosed with lung cancer and there were more than 158,000 deaths. After increasing for decades, lung cancer rates are decreasing nationally, as fewer people smoke cigarettes.

Orthotopic Model of Lung Cancer
Two SCLC cell lines tested for their orthotopic growth potential in mouse lungs. In summary, 5x 10^6 cells were innoculated via intratracheal instillation into nude mice. In life study time was 10-12 weeks; visible tumors apparent in both cell lines in lungs of mice.
